Data Cabling - Why Upgrade It?

by Paul 28. May 2010 11:05

If you run a business that relies on network cabling of any sort - be it voice or data cabling, then it's important that you stay ahead of the game with the most efficient data cabling possible which can provide you with the fastest and most secure transmission of data.

For example, if your network installation currently relies on a Category 5 cabling solution, then you should upgrade to a Cat 5e or preferably a Cat 6 network.

This will take your network from its existing basic 10/100 performance to gigabit operation and beyond.

By going the extra mile and getting the Category 6 network, you will be able to 'future proof' your network, ensuring that it is able to keep up with the large amounts of data that you are likely to be working with in the future.

This saves you needing subsequent visits from your data cabling contractors to upgrade you from a Cat 5e to Cat 6 network, and in the long run, will save you money – by only upgrading the network once, instead of twice.

Any upgrade will then mean that your staff spend less time waiting for large downloads, and will mean that they are more able to quickly transfer large files from computer to computer and work collaboratively on different projects.

This will, in turn, mean that your staff are more efficient and productive and get more done in a shorter amount of time meaning your installation pays for itself.
