Fibre Optic Cabling Part Two

by Paul 28. May 2010 10:59

Using these components, fibre optic cabling is able to carry 10 million 'messages' at any one time.

While this is the main use of fibre optic cabling, it is also used for light displays, sensors and lasers.

If your voice cabling and computer networks do not currently use fibre optic cabling, then you should look into having it installed in order to allow you to transmit and receive data and communications faster and thereby improve productivity.

It is important to have this done by a professional data cabling installation company as fibre optic cabling is very delicate.

Connecting fibre optic cabling is much more difficult than connecting electrical wire, and each end needs to be carefully 'cleaved' and then 'spliced' mechanically or welded using an electrical arc in order to ensure the core lines up perfectly.

Special connectors can also be used to provide removable and easier connections to allow you to calibrate and alter your own fibre optic cabling to a degree.

If you do not currently use fibre optic cabling then you should contact a data cabling installation company to replace your current cabling, this will improve your networks bandwidth and efficiency.
